Facebook Content Monetization: what to check before expecting earnings

Before asking how much a Facebook post could earn, establish which monetization program you are looking at and whether your account can participate. Screenshots from another creator, old videos and paid “activation” offers are not reliable evidence of your own eligibility.

As checked on 24 October 2026, Meta describes Facebook Content Monetization as invitation-only. Eligible formats include video, Stories, photo and text posts. Meta directs interested creators to the Facebook mobile app: Professional Dashboard, Monetization, then Content Monetization. An interest form is not an earnings commitment. See Meta’s program update.

Separate the questions

Use four headings in your own eligibility notes:

  • Program access: What exact program name and status does your account display?
  • Location: What does the current official guidance say about your actual country and the applicable setup?
  • Content: Do you own the work and understand the rules relevant to it?
  • Payment readiness: If invited, what information and conditions does the official onboarding process require?

These checks serve different purposes. An account can have a substantial audience without having access to a program. A program invitation does not establish that every post earns revenue. A payment-related screen does not answer every country-eligibility question.

Do not import follower or watch-time targets from an old in-stream ads guide and present them as a universal current Content Monetization threshold. Record the requirements actually displayed for your account, together with the date.

Make country checks specific

“Available in Africa” is too broad to guide a decision. Ghana, Cameroon, Nigeria, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of the Congo are separate jurisdictions. The Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo must not be treated as the same country.

Open Meta’s country and language guidance and check it alongside the account’s own monetization screen. The help page may require sign-in. This guide does not reproduce a country list because we could not independently retrieve its current full contents during this review. We do not infer availability from another Meta product, a neighbour’s account or a payment provider’s coverage.

If your country or account status remains unclear, use the official support route offered in your account. Do not change residence, tax or banking information to details that are not true. A provider offering assistance cannot guarantee that Meta will admit an account.

Original work needs more than a new caption

Meta’s original-content guidance says content made by the creator can qualify as original. Reusing clips with only minor changes, or adding reactions without meaningful new contribution, may be treated as unoriginal. Originality and permission to use somebody else’s material are separate checks.

Illustrative example: a food creator records a market visit, explains ingredient choices and edits their own cooking demonstration. Their raw footage and production notes help establish how the piece was made. Downloading another cook’s video and adding a local-language caption does not establish the same creative contribution. This example is a way to assess a production process, not a prediction of Meta’s decision.

Keep a simple rights record for music, guest contributions, photos and clips. Note where each item came from, what permission you have and any limits on its use. If you cannot explain why you may use an asset, resolve that before building a series around it.

A useful preparation checklist

Save the current eligibility status privately. Review recent work for ownership questions. List the people who can manage the account. Keep a record of questions that only the platform can settle, rather than buying an unverified “fix”.

For an invitation, open Facebook independently and locate the offer there instead of trusting a message link. Do not pay an intermediary simply for a promise of admission.

ikWik for Creators is in development. This educational guide does not provide access to Meta monetization or announce a partnership. Your next useful action is to verify one real account against one current program, not to chase a universal shortcut.
